How We Teach
With over 20 years of experience of Performance-Based Music Education and hundreds of thousands of students, we’ve learned that playing music with others accelerates learning far beyond traditional methods. Live performance is at the heart of our curriculum—because when students take the stage together, they grow as musicians and as individuals. Collaboration, compromise, and courage are just as important as chords and scales. This revolutionary approach is called The School of Rock Method™. Our patented system combines the Method App, Method Book collection, and our SongFirst approach to build real musical proficiency. It’s a teaching method you won’t find anywhere else.
The Performance Program - School of Rock’s signature music program, where tens of thousands of students enroll each year.
Using the patented School of Rock Method™, the Performance Program combines weekly group rehearsals with private lessons. Kids and teens learn by playing rock music’s most iconic songs in a real band setting with peers. Each student is assigned songs and parts tailored to their age, experience, and skill level, ensuring steady progress and confidence-building.
Private lessons reinforce the skills introduced in rehearsal, preparing students for the ultimate goal—live performance. Every few months, Performance Program students take the stage at local music venues, showcasing what they’ve learned in front of a live audience.
